Brown, Bazin & Co., Boston
In 1854 Brown, Bazin & Company was established by W. Henry Brown,
F. Ormond, J. S. Bazin (previously with B. B. Mussey), and Richard D.
Morse.
The firm was a publisher, bookseller and stationer and was located at
94 Washington Street in Boston. By the spring of 1857 this firm was
out of business. W. Henry Brown left Brown, Bazin in 1857 to join W.
P. Fetridge & Co., another Boston publisher.
Brown, Bazin & Co. published four juvenile series:
1. Oliver Optic's Stories
for Young Folks
2. Grandmamma Easy's New
Pictorial Colored Story Books
3. Young America Juvenile
Library
4. Hewet's Illuminated
Household Stories for Little Folks
It was the secondary imprint for Loomis'
Fairy Tales for the Little Ones. It advertised a 12 volume "My
Uncle Toby's Library" but as of yet there is no proof that this
firm published the series.
