#1 was released in December, 1854. #2 was issued in December, 1855.
Title #1 was not written with the idea of a series. Volume 2 was noted
to be a sequel to volume #1. The third title by Optic, Now or Never,
was advertised as another Optic book in "Oliver Optic's Stories for
Young Folks". Later other publishers included it as book #3 in the six
book Boat Club Series.
Cloth. Blue, brown and green seen. Each year had a different format.
See below. All the books are 6.75" x 4.75".
In 1855 only the Boat Club was published in this "Presentation" edition.
Two other later 1855 editions were published. One has the racing boat
spine but it is blindstamped with BB and Co. embossed on the cover. The
third format has a new spine that is identical to the 1856 All Aboard
spine with the embossed BB and Co. cover.
