This series was published beginning in 1876 by G. P. Putnam’s Sons with books 2-5 added subsequently. These are first editions. The titles were reprinted numerous times.
With the publication of book #4 the set was boxed.
Beginning in 1901 some of the books were part of the Knickerbocker Series. That multivolume set used the same plates from the previously published Mayne Read books. Thus, the title page imprint reflects the earthier publication.
