This series was introduced by Cassell, Petter & Galpin in about 1875. In about 1881 the seven titles made up the Pretty Picture Series.

Two formats have been seen. Priority is not definitively established but it appears that the books with the gold gilt square on the cover are earlier.
Format 1:
Cloth. Various colors. Cover has a square with gilt decorations and
title lettering. The spine has the title in gilt. 8 vo.
Format 2: Cloth. Blue seen. Gilt cover letter box. Black line drawn cover decoration and "43 illustrations" noted. 8 vo.
