The first three books were designated as the Great River Series in
1886.
Books #1-3 were copyrighted in 1886 by Cassell & Company.
The series of five books was published by Cassell Publishing Company between 1891 and 1897. Beginning in 1894 books #4 and 5 were added and the series was renamed the "Ellis Series". The books however had been first published in 1891. Books #4 and 5 were Cassell Publishing Company first editions.
