The first editions of these titles were published by Graves & Young. Subsequently Henry A. Young & Co. printed the four volumes.
Dodd & Mead first published this series in 1875. E. P. Dutton also published this series in 1875. In 1876 and thereafter Dodd, Mead & Co. printed these volumes.

The earliest editions of format 1 only have the illustrated title page and several other pictorial black and white illustrations by E. J. Whitney.
Format 2 books have line drawn illustrations by Miss Weaver.
Format 3, 4 and later books had numerous illustrations by Mary Fairman Clark.

Note that these titles were also part of several Dodd, Mead & Co. publisher's series. They are noted below.

Format 2 (1882-1895)
Cloth. Various colors. Gilt cover letter box. Black line drawn decorations.


Format 3 1896-1900 title pages seen
Cloth. Beige. Red and gilt lettering on the cover with the picture of a joker and a wheel. 12 mo.


Format 4 1901
Cloth. Cover picture of a girl in a jacket with black, orange or red lettering and lines.

The "Gypsy Series" books were also published within several publisher's series.
The Hearthstone Library- Second Series included all four titles from this series.
This series was published between 1878 and 1882. The 1878 and 1879 have the 751 Broadway address on the title page.


The Economical Sunday-School Library "B" published by Dodd, Mead & Co. included all four of these titles between 1878 and the late 1880's.
These books were cloth, blindstamped, orange with gilt lettering and a number on the spine.

The four titles were also included in the Phenix Series beginning in 1901. This was a multivolume, multi authored publisher's series.
