Illustrated Book of Natural History

Published by Ashmead

These books were copyrighted in 1859 and some were printed by Henry B. Ashmead for the American Sunday School Union. Others do not have the ASSU noted on the title page.

It is unclear which is the first edition but it is most likely the earlier book has ASSU on the title page. These titles were published as separate parts and as one clothbound volume which included the four parts. Each part has eight full color illustrations.

Ashmead & Evans' formats have not been seen. Its books were published in two formats: Cloth with colored cover and in boards with a black and white cover. There is also a clothbound book which included all four parts.
