These books were first published in 1852 in cloth. In 1854 they were officially designated as a series and were sold in wraps as well as cloth. Editions have been seen in 1852 and 1853 (non-series) and in 1854, 1856, 1857, and 1858 (series).

All of the cloth bound books are blindstamped with a gilt title imprint on the center of the cover.

The Little Charley Books were advertised as a six volume set sold in wraps or cloth. All six of these titles were included in the "Juvenile Series" which was bound in stiff paper covers.

In 1854 "Little Charley's Picture Home Book" included all six of the above titles.

"Little Charley's Library" consisted of two volumes which contained the six Little Charley titles.
