The first two books in this series were introduced by Charles S. Francis in 1837. By 1839 the entire set was advertised. Of note, is that beginning in 1839 the set was advertised as having 50 volumes. The 50 volume collection was sold within a bookcase with or without a glass front. I have not seen a 50 title list.

Editions thus far seen in 1837 (Volumes #1-2), 1838, 1839, 1841, 1844, 1850, 1851 and 1855.

These titles were part of the School District Library in 1843.

Cloth. Blindstamped. Embossed cover pattern. Gilt lettering in the spine.


1850-1851
Cloth. Various colors. Gilt cover decoration with Eagle on a wreath within which is the book title.
