These titles are reprints. This twelve volume series was first
published in 1853 by Geo. C. Rand.
This series was published by Brown, Taggard and Chase, Brown and
Taggard, Taggard and Thompson, and Thompson, Brown and Co. I have not
seen copies published by Fred'k A. Brown and Co. and Thompson, Bigelow
& Brown but both firms probably printed this series.
Each book has five engravings.
A number of reprinted editions have been noted:
BTC 1858, 1859 and 1860
BT 1860 and 1862
TT 1864 and 1867
(John R. Walsh, a Chicago publisher, reprinted these titles in 1863)
Taggard and Thompson published these titles in two formats. Cloth and
in illuminated boards (not seen).
