The first editions of this series were published by Geo. C. Rand in 1853. The title page notes 1853. Reprints were done by Rand in 1854. Some 1854 books were co-published with Carlton & Phillips. "Geo. C. Rand and Avery" published this set in 1856. Later Brown, Taggard & Chase, Brown & Taggard, Fred'k A. Brown & Co., Taggard & Thompson, Thompson, Bigelow & Brown, Thompson, Brown & Co and John R. Walsh produced this series.

illustration of children. Gilt spine lettering and decoration.
