Introduced as a series by Henry A. Young & Co. in 1870. This twelve book series is made up of the books from two six book sets: "Rustic Library" and the "Casket Series".
It does not appear that this series was published after 1873. Both the "Casket Library" as well as the “Rustic Library” were published after 1873 in a second format that has an applique on the cover. See those Libraries for more information.
Cloth. Various colors. Blindstamped. The spine has gilt design and lettering. The spine lettering of the books that may up the "Casket Series" state the title and "Pure Gold Series". The title page however notes "Casket Library". As of this time no books that make up the "Rustic Library" have been seen that note "Pure Gold Series" on the spine.
