The series was introduced by J. B. Lippincott & Co. when volume
#2 was published.
After the 1885 editions J. B. Lippincott Co. published the series
The first editions were issued in cloth. By 1885 the titles were being published in both cloth and board covers.
Young Folks' Science in Story contains the three volumes bound into one. Cloth Gilt

Cloth. Various colors and illustrations (different for each book) on
the cover. 9" x 7".

Format 2:
Illuminated board covers. Cover in various light colors with a picture
of a ladder and some sort of mechanical device. A circle on the cover
encloses different people for each book. 9” x 7”. (These books were
published in the same format for a number of years.)
This later edition has been seen.
